Head-on clashes between government forces and TNLA forces 12 days after Meeting Calling for Peace

A 30 minute clash broke out between Namlan based Government troops LIB 17 and Regiment 717 of TNLA at upper Konslam Village at Maing Ngaw Township on the 12th of August at 2:30 pm.

The head-on clash occurred while the Maing Ngaw based regiment 717 of TNLA forces were on an organizing trip regarding the eradication of drugs and explaining the outcomes and the process of the peace talks with Burmese government to the local villagers. Myanmar LIB 17 forces attacked the movement.

Commander of TNLA Regiment 717 said that whilst they were on their way to their organizing trip when the LIB 17 of government forces attacked them and a 30 minute clash ensued at about 2:30 pm. There were two reported casualties from government forces and no one reported injured from the TNLA.

Although the two sides, PSLF/TNLA and Myanmar government, reached an agreement to have a further meeting in an attempt to build up trust at State level at Muse, northern Shan State, the first clash occurred only after 12 days of the initial peace meeting in August.
